Rogue croc captured by authorities
A 3.6-metre crocodile has been trapped and captured by wildlife officers in north Queensland after twice lunging at a fisherman on a creek bank.
Authorities from the Department of Environment, Science and Innovation captured the crocodile near Ingham with a baited trap last week.
The crocodile was baited after twice lunging at a fisherman on the bank of Cattle Creek, on April 18.
Wildlife Officer Ella Meeve said the crocodile will be temporarily housed in a department holding facility while awaiting placement at a crocodile farm or zoo.
"The removal of this animal does not mean there are no longer any crocodiles in Cattle Creek, and fishers are advised to stand well back from the water or behind a barrier such as an esky, while fishing," she said.
"Removing estuarine crocodiles from the wild is a last resort, but those that pose a threat to human safety are targeted for removal under the Queensland Crocodile Management Plan."
Earlier in May, another crocodile, which measured more than four metres, was captured at a north Queensland marina after lunging at a resident of a house boat.
Authorities have issued warnings for people to remain 'crocwise' and make sensible choices around waters in north Queensland.
